Sri Lanka Envoy Encourages Turkish Businesses to Participate in SLEXPO 2027
The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Ankara, in collaboration with the Istanbul Chamber of Industry, conducted an exclusive promotional session on Sri Lanka EXPO 2027 titled “South Asia’s Shining Star: Trade and Investment Opportunities in Sri Lanka” in Istanbul on 06 October 2026.
This event provided the opportunity to introduce Sri Lanka’s growing trade and investment potential to the Turkish business community and to encourage their greater participation in the flagship SLEXPO 2027.
The opening session included addresses by Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Türkiye Niluka Kadurugamuwa, Secretary General of the Istanbul Chamber of Industry, Haktan Akin, and Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka in Istanbul Aydin Ozu. The speakers highlighted the potential of Sri Lanka as an emerging market and investment destination for Turkish businesses and emphasized the importance of strengthening business-to-business engagement between the two countries through participation in SLEXPO 2027.
First Secretary (Commercial) of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Ankara, Dilanga Hettiarachchi, made a comprehensive presentation on the trade and investment opportunities available in Sri Lanka, while also providing an overview of SLEXPO 2027 and the opportunities it offers for Turkish buyers, investors and business representatives.
The programme also featured a panel discussion with successful Turkish entrepreneurs currently engaging in trade and business activities with Sri Lanka. Their experiences and insights provided practical perspectives on doing business with Sri Lanka and helped strengthen the confidence and interest of the participants in exploring further business opportunities in the country.
The session brought together leading investors, traders, buyers and business professionals from Türkiye, providing a valuable platform for networking, exchanging information and exploring potential areas for enhanced bilateral trade and investment cooperation.
The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Ankara will continue its promotional efforts in Türkiye and concurrently accredited countries to encourage greater participation of buyers, investors and business representatives in SLEXPO 2027, scheduled to be held in Colombo from 14–17 January 2027.
