The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Ankara, in collaboration with the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, and the Embassy of Türkiye in Colombo, conducted a webinar on “Trade and Investment Opportunities in Sri Lanka” on 23 September 2026.
The webinar which was organized pursuant to a meeting the Ambassador of Sri Lanka has had with the President of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, brought together representatives from the business and investment communities of both countries to promote bilateral trade, investment, tourism, and business partnerships, while highlighting market opportunities, investment incentives, priority sectors and prospects for cooperation.
The opening session of the webinar featured remarks by Executive Board Member of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce Münir Üstün, Chief Executive Officer of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce Shiran Fernando, Deputy Chief of the Embassy of Türkiye in Colombo İmren Kaygısız, and the Ambassador of Sri Lanka in Türkiye Niluka Kadurugamuwa.
During the technical sessions, Trade Attaché of the Republic of Türkiye in Sri Lanka Ismail Tulukcu presented the environment of the Sri Lanka economy and its potentials to the Turkish business community.
First Secretary (Commercial) of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Ankara Dilanga Hettiarachchi, presented an overview of the Sri Lankan economy and business environment, while also explaining the role of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Ankara in facilitating trade, investment and business linkages between Sri Lanka and Türkiye.
Economist from the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce Saumya Amarasiriwardene, further elaborated on Sri Lanka’s investment incentives and priority sectors, as well as opportunities available in manufacturing, construction, tourism, ICT, logistics and renewable energy.
The webinar provided a valuable platform for sharing information on the two markets and identifying opportunities for greater engagement between Turkish and Sri Lankan businesses. The organizing partners expressed their continued commitment to facilitating business connections, investment partnerships and stronger economic relations between Sri Lanka and Türkiye.
A large number of members of the two Chambers of Commerce attended the webinar.
